Eating well when you’re on the go can be tough. But we’re making it a little easier with MacEwan University’s exclusively vegetarian and vegan vendor - Season.
Season’s menu features fresh meals made on campus, so you can satisfy your hunger — and feel good while doing it.
The menu, created by MacEwan Food Services director Paul Treadwell, consists of healthy and tasty lunch staples: salads, soups and sandwiches. The relatively new concept emerged from a desire to create a space that serves fresh food for vegetarians and vegans, says Treadwell.
“We’re creating an environment where we can guarantee that vegetarian food is available,” he explains. “It’s also a good place to eat if you just need a break from protein.”
Fan favourites include the Caprese Panini — featuring artisan bread, mozzarella, tomato and fresh basil pesto — and the Egg & Avocado Multigrain Croissant.
Season also offers a “Build your own falafel” option, which gives customers an opportunity to choose their toppings. And their ingredients are locally sourced, through Fresh Forward, an Alberta-based produce supplier.
So far, the menu has been a hit with students, staff and faculty alike.
“The response from the university community has been very positive and we look forward to adding even more options to Season’s menu,” says Susan Cooper, senior manager of Hospitality Services
