MacEwan University Food Services is saying a bittersweet goodbye to Filistix and It Takes Two to Taco at City Centre Campus. The owners of these two concepts have decided to focus on new business endeavours in the city and we support their decision wholeheartedly. It was a difficult decision for them, and we will miss Filistix owners Ariel and Roel, who helped shape our culinary landscape here at MacEwan University for the better. But, we also want to express our sincere enthusiasm to their team, as they work towards new and exciting business goals – including a brick and mortar downtown location.
“Ariel and his team were the foundation of our move towards offering more local eats on campus, and that will certainly remain their legacy here,” said Campus Services executive director Kris Bruckmann. “We wish Ariel and his team the best, and we’re glad to hear they’ll be staying downtown, and so close to campus.”
MacEwan University Food Services remains committed to bringing in more local vendors in the future, and in the meantime has several exciting new concepts set to launch this fall.
“We were already planning an expansion of our popular Lunchbox menu and this is the perfect opportunity to implement those ideas in the Robbins Health Learning Centre space,” said Hospitality Services senior manager Susan Cooper. “We’ll also be launching a brand new concept called Tavolino – an easy, build your own pasta station – and we know with MacEwan University chef Navneet Kumar at the helm, it will be delicious.”
We wish Ariel and his team the best, and will continue to follow their progress and share their successes on our own social media channels @MacEwanEats. You can watch those same accounts for more news and info on both Lunchbox and Tavolino, which will open September 2018.
